Playa Style Guide

Wedding Attire

Formal Beach Wedding – Less formal than a church wedding but still dressy.  Wear light colors (white, pastel, etc.), natural and lightweight fabrics, and sensible shoes that can withstand walks through the sand.

For Women

  • Lightweight fabric such as silk, chiffon, satin or organza
  • Nice sundresses, short and tea length dresses are common
  • Nice, lightweight pantsuits are also a good option
  • Consider a hat or something to pull hair back with just in case it gets windy on the beach
  • While the ceremony is in the gazebo, the reception will be on the beach, so for footwear, you can either choose a dressy flat or wear the high heels and go barefoot once we get on the beach

For Men

  • Dress pants such as linen, lightweight cotton, or nice khakis
  • Nice button down shirt
  • Ties are optional
  • Suit jackets aren’t necessary but a lightweight sports coat/blazer is an option for the ceremony or if it gets chilly
  • Leather shoes are a good choice or nice sandals

Weather

  • The wedding ceremony will begin at 6:00pm.
  • Sunset will be at 7:07pm
  • If it rains the wedding/reception will be moved into the ball room
  • Historically on April 17th, Playa Del Carmen has an average high temperature of of 84 and low low of 71

Hotel is Booked

Just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve heard from our travel agent that the Royal Playa Del Carmen is now fully booked and there are no rooms available.  Our travel agent has tried every contact she does business with and everyone is sold out including their sister Resort.   We are sorry for those who didn’t get a room, we wish you could have made it down.

Processing can take up to 6 weeks.  If you already have a passport, check the expiration date to be sure that it is valid through the dates of your trip.

Final Payments Due: Balances for the trip are due to our travel agent by February 12, 2010.

We’ll talk to you guys soon!

Only 90 Days Left

With only 90 days before the big day, we wanted to send out some reminders.

Passports:  If you haven’t gotten your passport yet, now is the time to submit your application (http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html). Processing can take up to 6 weeks.  If you already have a passport, check the expiration date to be sure that it is valid through the dates of your trip.

Rooms: Outside of rooms held by our travel agent, the hotel is fully booked.  There are only 4 rooms available under our group, so if you want to go and haven’t booked yet, contact our travel agent as soon as possible (860-666-4625, 800-352-2828, or via email at Vacations@FrenchsTravel.com).

Final Payments Due: Balances for the trip are due to our travel agent by February 12, 2010.

Wedding Attire: We’ve gotten some questions about what to wear to the wedding.  The ceremony will be held at 6:00pm followed by a cocktail hour and then the sit-down reception all on the beach, but this will be more on the formal side.  Let us know if you have any specific questions.

Revised Rates

Hi everyone!  Hope you are all doing well!

Just wanted to give you an update and send out a couple of reminders.

First, and most importantly, rates have been reduced!  Yay!  Many of you who have already booked rooms should have received a note from our travel agent letting you know your new total, if not, feel free to call/email French’s Worldwide Travel at 860-666-4625, 800-352-2828, Vacations@FrenchsTravel.com.  See the bottom of this email for a comparison between the Previous Rates and the Revised Rates (rates for different lengths of stay or room type available from French’s).

Second, we wanted to remind everyone to RSVP by email.  We need to start sending our estimated guest list to the resort for wedding planning purposes.  For those of you who have not yet booked your rooms, if you wouldn’t mind responding to this email with a quick Yes, No, or Maybe, that would be great!

Third, get your passports!  Don’t be like me and wait to the last minute; Kenny is starting to think he’ll end up going stag to his own wedding!  You will need specific information and documents in order to get your passport, so the earlier you start, the easier it will be.  Go here: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738_2.html for more information.

Let me know if you have any questions or need any other information.

Take care,

Dawn & Kenny
